Distributed combination of belief functions

چکیده

We consider the problem of combining belief functions in a situation where pieces evidence are held by agents at node communication network, and each agent can only exchange information with its neighbors. Using concept weight evidence, we propose distributed implementations Dempster’s rule cautious based, respectively, on average maximum consensus algorithms. also describe procedures whereby agree frame discernment list supported hypotheses, thus reducing amount data to be exchanged network. Finally, show feasibility robust combination procedure based implementation random sample (RANSAC) algorithm.

Analyzing the combination of conflicting belief functions

We consider uncertain data which uncertainty is represented by belief functions and that must be combined. The result of the combination of the belief functions can be partially conflictual. Initially Shafer proposed Dempster’s rule of combination where the conflict is reallocated proportionally among the other masses. Then Zadeh presented an example where Dempster’s rule of combination produce...

Pairwise classifier combination using belief functions

In the so-called pairwise approach to polychotomous classification, a multi-class problem is solved by combining classifiers trained to discriminate between each pair of classes. In this paper, this approach is revisited in the framework of the Dempster-Shafer theory of belief functions, a non-probabilistic framework for quantifying and manipulating partial knowledge. It is proposed to interpre...

Propagation of belief functions: a distributed approach

r. Abstract and Introduction In this paper, we describe a scheme for propagating belief functions in certain kinds of trees using only local computations. This scheme generalizes the computational scheme proposed by Shafer and Logan 1 for diagnostic trees of the type studied by Gordon and Shortliffe2,3 and the slightly more general scheme given by Shafer4 for hierarchical evidence. It also gene...

Interpreting Belief Functions as Probabilities: Dempster's rule of combination

Dempster and Shafer introduced the belief function to measure some one’s degree of beliefs or subjective probabilities. In IFSA’99 and NAFIPS’9, we presented two distinct proofs that a belief function is, in fact, an inner probability using the methods of functional analysis and measure theory respectively. In this paper, we continue the study and derive a new Dempster’s rule of combination bas...

Algebraic Structures Related to the Combination of Belief Functions

Based on a new demand — the commutativity of belief functions combination with refinement/coarsening of the frame of discernment — the role of the disjunctive rule of combination has increased. To compare the nature of this rule with a more frequent but also more controversional one, i.e. with Dempster’s rule, an algebraic analysis was used. The basic necessary definitions both from the Dempste...
